yuzuru takarai.
NICKNAME,
frequently used nicknames include "yuzu" and "zuru," though there are some who have affectionately bestowed upon him the irritating pet name of "ruru." most of his acquaintances outside of strega, however, know him by his online handle of "cyanide," which serves as his hitman alias. he also goes by the alias of "crux" when it comes to his non-strega-related efforts.
AGE,
seventeen.
GENDER & PREFERENCE,
male and bisexual. he's not especially picky in terms of gender.
PROFESSION,
generally serves as a member of strega's assault unit and a hitman for said faction's revenge website, though he also works as a freelance artist and tackles a variety of commissions for money. (he also has an account on a video sharing site where he does song covers, but that's not important—move along, move along.)
PERSONALITY,
at first glance, yuzuru tends to come off as a calm, collected male who can fulfill missions with utter ease, but truth be told, what remains of his waning sanity is in shambles. his primary means of dealing with the world is by shutting it out—or well, frankly, to be literal, he tends to simply shut himself indoors and never interact with people in person unless it is absolutely necessary. although he is capable of maintaining a conversation if push comes to shove, being as normal as typical males go aside for his self-induced seclusion and a number of quirks, most social encounters are relatively stressful to him. most notably, he bears a double-edged bloodlust and delights in the concept of other people's pain and suffering—as well as his own. biggest goal in life? go out with a bang, and take the entire fucking world with him while he's at it. self-destructiveness at its finest, ladies and gentlemen.
while he's not terribly kind or considerate, yuzuru does have his moments of human decency, and he doesn't mind lending an occasional hand to a trusted acquaintance. what he lacks in social prowess he makes up for in terms of unadulterated resourcefulness, making him a viciously intelligent individual—in other words, tons of bite (and not much bark, all things considered). he'd be a fabulous manipulator if not for his utter lack of natural charisma and social dexterity. potential jerkassery aside, yuzuru can be quite dedicated to the things he cares about. these interests usually involve his art and music commissions, as well as his strega activities, and he's the type of person who would forgo meals to finish his work.
admittedly, yuzuru is somewhat lacking in the morals department (or rather, more like completely lacking, but hey, details, what do they matter), but he is not unreasonable. he isn't a very judgmental person, being the kind of guy who often gathers together as much information as possible before developing a conclusion, and even then, he continually revises his views based on new developments. tragically, the one view he adamantly refuses to change is his aversion to humanity in general. although he has a number of redeeming traits, in truth, he's just coping and trying to make the best of his situation while waiting for the coming of the fall. if that means making a few friends, completing countless commissions, posting song covers online, and killing a handful of people in the process, no biggie—it's all to amuse himself and pass the time.

a set of handguns. yuzuru usually relies on their range to maintain a reasonable distance from his foe during combat, but he's not too shabby in terms of physical adroitness. as such, he does have some experience with the martial arts and can adapt accordingly when the situation calls for it. he does keep a sniper rifle stored for whenever he receives requests from strega's revenge website, but being that said rifle is only practical in assassinations, he does not bring it with him when he expects a full-fledged fight.
in the rare event that he actually ventures outside under relatively normal circumstances, yuzuru usually ditches the handguns and takes a switchblade with him. it's hard to muffle the sound of a gun, after all. even silencers have their limits.

ADDITIONAL NOTES,
yuzuru is the sorry end result of years of psychological abuse. to start from the beginning, his father awakened the potential to enter the dark hour during yuzuru's childhood, and something in the man snapped, being that he was unable to come to terms with the existence of the shadows. when yuzuru was approximately thirteen years old, his mother was more or less lured into the dark hour from her transmogrofication coffin by "the voice," and she was promptly attacked by a shadow near their house. for a brief moment, yuzuru was able to awaken his persona, being that he had the potential, but the awakening backfired because he was not psychologically mature enough to deal with the acceptance of his "other self," something that caused him to regress, which in turn made the persona vanish mid-battle. shortly afterwards, his mother was viciously slain and devoured by surrounding shadows right before his and his father's very eyes, traumatizing them both. yuzuru's father blamed him for her death, forced him to drop out of school, and the rest is all a cycle of self-destructive abuse; the blame game, reiterated on a day-to-day basis. by the time he was fifteen, yuzuru's sense of self-esteem was nonexistent, he despised his father, he hated the shadows, and he wanted everything to end.
one day, as apathy syndrome began reappearing, he happened upon strega's revenge website, and, sick of everything life had to offer, filed in a request for someone to kill his father. someone dropped by during the dark hour the following day, and, realizing that he had the potential, they fulfilled the request and took him to meet the rest of strega. to yuzuru, strega is the closest thing to family now, and it's through them that he learned to finally awaken and control his persona properly. ironically, he generally doesn't need suppressant pills because he technically awakened his persona on his own, but whenever he regresses and succumbs to old psychological trauma, his persona falters and tries to destroy him as well, prompting the occasional need for the pills.

yuzuru technically first awakened his persona at age thirteen, but the summoning backfired shortly afterward; the ensuing regression sealed away his ability to summon his persona for a good two years. the next time he managed to awaken his persona—for good—was at age fifteen.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES,
thanatos reflects all dark attacks and is resistant to slash and strike attacks. on the other hand, he is weak against light attacks.

INFORMATION,
upon first awakening thanatos, yuzuru wasn't sure what he was, but the telltale aura of death was impossible to ignore. his father contended that if he was so connected to a creature of death, he was a monster as well; suffice to say, during the years he couldn't summon thanatos, yuzuru grew to see said persona as a source of grief and suffering. in more recent years, his strange relationship with his persona has mellowed out for the most part, but there are still occasions during which he loses control; in such situations, thanatos usually sees it fit to try killing him, regardless of circumstances.

yo! nice app -- long yet short with enough details to cover everything we need. hrm, my only word of advice is: do us proud with thanatos. the fact that your character is using pills & summoning him, the child of nyx, is tastefully ironic.
