MASAMI YAMAGUCHI ( Bloody Broken Angel )
NAME,
Masami Yamaguchi
NICKNAME,
Masa, M-n-M
AGE,
Nineteen
GENDER & PREFERENCE,
Female, pansexual
PROFESSION,
Unemployed leech of a science project for Nocturne
PERSONALITY,
Masami is broken as a person. From her youth, she had been a test subject for Nocturne, her parents having some sort of relationship with the group. While young and impressionable, she was fed propaganda, experimented on, and almost constantly found herself under the influence of some drug or chemical or another. Because of this, she's emotionally undeveloped. She still has a mindset, under normal circumstances, similar to that of a child.
That said, Masami can be a very gentle person. She trusts people almost without any semblance of reason, lacks common sense, and is exceedingly dense. To call her usual self gullible or air-headed would not be an incorrect observation. In cases of betrayal, she's more prone to sadness and tears than anger or violence. She's painfully honest, not really knowing how to lie- or to soften the blow when asked for an opinion- and ridiculously easy to please.
Of course, even under normal circumstances, the girl is not positive. Masami has an addiction to pain. This addiction can push her to extremes, making her completely willing to put herself at risk for others- usually, the more dangerous things are, the better. It gives her an indomitable courage that's driven not by the lack of fear, but of the very simple desire to feel alive. She has no problems with self-confidence, nor is she depressed. If anything, she actually has an almost ickily-cheery view of the world, and, more than that, she's very sure of herself.
As far as she knows, she just likes pain.
Of course, as mentioned before, Masami is a very broken person. If she were just masochistic and sheltered, she could still adapt to society, after all. Whenever she sees blood that does not belong to her, a switch in her head is flipped. Due to its appropriateness, this switch has been dubbed as Masami's “Kill Switch”. Once triggered, every semblance of nicety inside the girl dies for a while. Where she would otherwise be harmless, she's then an extremely hostile and otherwise homicidal young woman. She's not without reason- not quite, anyway- but her own sense of twisted logic demands some degree of violence.
Quiet becomes loud. Non-confrontational becomes exceedingly aggressive. Masochism becomes complete and utter sadism. Once those first drops are seen, Masami wants to see more. It's ironic that her mind actually functions better like that, though. Where should would have had problems focusing or solving problems normally, a switched Masami is a ridiculously resourceful, if not somewhat impractical, and quick-thinker. If it were not for the fact that over ninety-percent of her brain functions at that point were focused on destroying something, one could even go so far as to call her dependable.
Once someone manages to reason with Masami, or she has her fill of killing and destroying- or just seeing the “red river” flow, she typically “awakens” to her more innocent self. Usually, this is accompanied with a dull headache, plenty of obliviousness to what she had done.
To reiterate, Masami is a cute and cuddly young lady that likes to feel pain. She's harmless to anything but herself and ridiculously cheery- if not a little stupid- until she sees someone else's blood. Then she's the embodiment of every great serial killer that ever walked the earth!
LIKES & DISLIKES,
+Pain (can't get enough) +Many of the test chemicals used on her (the green and red together have wonderful effects) +The colors pink, red, blue, and black (in that order) +Salt (for the wounds) +Raw fish (it makes her sick, and yet she likes it)
-Hot food -Liars -The blood of other people -The smell of cooked meat -Birds
ALLIANCE,
Nocturne
WEAPON & TACTICS,
While not entirely orthodox, Masami uses a pair of gauntlets whenever she's fighting during the Dark Hour. The gauntlets provide a degree of protection to her lower arms while allowing her to be as close as possible to her enemies to unless massive damage. The notable thing about these gauntlets is that they have extendable claws integrated with them. Because of the structure of the gauntlets, the claws can be used to cause slash or pierce damage, and, if necessary, the claws can be retracted by means of a time-based pressure mechanism on the interior to render the gauntlets as simply reinforced boxing gloves.
Typically, she uses them as only gauntlets unless ordered otherwise or accidentally triggered. Once she's “switched” over, the claws are almost always out. Masami's general reckless disregard for her well-being makes her a fairly good brawler with the gauntlets on, despite her build. Once triggered, though, she drops any sense of the sparse grace even a street brawler has and adopts an almost berserk battle style, completely disregarding any semblance of safety as she swipes, stabs, whirls, or kicks her enemies about.
PERSONA,
Beelzebub, The Devil; Awakened
ADDITIONAL NOTES,
-Masami's fractured mentality is a byproduct of several things. The first major schism originated with the first tests of the girl's potential. After being awakened, her mind was a little unstable at the time, as her id and ego had yet to properly develop at that age. Following that was the application of drugs and chemicals to “stabilize” her control. While it did have that effect, it effectively stunted her mental growth- or so it had seemed for several years. Over time, it became evident that her brain had not been adversely affected by the treatment, but had actually developed further.
-Over the years, the girl was conditioned. Her “Kill Switch”, among a number of other things, were firmly ingrained into her subconscious mind by means of neuro-linguistic programming and positive and negative reinforcement. Trained like an animal and firmly indoctrinated, the girl was given a number of triggers and precautions regarding her homicidal self, and this is where the majority of her mental capabilities were locked away to, to further promote an easily-controlled, but extremely dangerous weapon.
-Though her blood trigger is the only obvious and fairly well-known means of drawing out her homicidal self, there are a number of triggers and suggestions in place that control her slipping into and out of that state.
-It should go to note that, while “triggered”, Masami not only has increased brain functions, but also has increased physical capabilities due to adrenaline pumping through her veins. Every time she slips into that state, her brain stirs the fight or flight syndrome. This is why she's extremely dangerous.
-Though she's an albino, Masami's bad eyesight is an extension of the experiments she's undergone and not a side-effect of the lack of pigment. Because of this, her eyesight is easily corrected by glasses.
-Related to above, Masami is able to enter Tartarus without going berserk due to a special headset. It's very similar to the goggle-based headsets that special operations units have, but they have one singular use- erasing the color red from Masami's visible spectrum. Without the ability to determine that something is, without a doubt, blood, she can retain her “normal” mind frame. Testing has been performed to try removing red with normal glasses, but substantial results have yet to be produced.
-Occasionally, though most would not have the chance to notice it, Masami does lapse into a pseudo-triggered state. When like this, the young woman is not violent, but she does possess full access to her “locked” mental capabilities. She's also fairly aggressive and forward. This is typically silenced by one of her trigger phrases to slip her back into her normal mindset, but, when she's half-and-half, her mentality is quite similar to a mad scientist. In those rare occasions, she's exceedingly intelligent, but not shackled down by logic, conscience, or common sense.
-Masami's masochism is one of the other things ingrained into her subconscious through neuro-linguistic programming and gradual conditioning in combination with drugs. While she does not gain sexual pleasure from pain like a textbook masochist, she enjoys the sensations, and this often reflects in her fighting style when “normal”. She's more than willing to take a blow- eager, in fact.
-In regards to her self-inflicted injuries, she's forbidden from doing anything that cannot be easily hidden. For this reason, most of her external injuries are on her arms, back, upper legs, and belly. Her arms, however, are the only ones that manage to host noticeable scars, as the rest are either too light against her skin or have healed due to Beelzebub's healing properties. The scars on her arms are typically hidden by long-sleeved shirts, or by jackets.
-Masami's level of booksmarts is that of late middle school. She never attended normal school, and was privately instructed between experiments and sessions.

BEELZEBUB ( The Devil )
NAME,
Beelzebub
ELEMENT,
Lightning
AWAKENING,
Four
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES,
Beelzebub repels Darkness, blocks lightning, wind, and strike, and is weak to fire and light. In terms of stats, Beelzebub's excels in the fields of magic and agility, while it has an above average endurance and slightly below average strength and luck.
SKILL SET,
-Death Flies -Primal Force -Maziodyne -Victory Cry
APPEARANCE,
Refer to the picture. It's official SMT art.
INFORMATION,
-Death Flies is an ability that Beelzebub had in Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, and I think in a few other titles. Originally, the ability had a 100% chance of insta-killing anything without resistance to death. I know by firsthand experience. I turned it down to a “high chance” so that it wasn't overpowered. The insta-killing will mainly be for shadows, after all. For skill-details, view below.
-Beelzebub was one of the seraphim recruited by Lucifer in the rebellion against God. After the fall, and taking up residence in hell, Beelzebub became chief of the demons, second only to Lucifer himself. Other names for him include Achor and Baal. Due to the meaning of Achor, the Jews changed the name to Beelzebub, which translates as “Lord of Flies”, due to his supposed role in the creation of flies. Accounts vary in regards to Beelzebub's association with sin, but the two most notable alignments are with gluttony and pride. This gluttony is what strikes the chord with the current Masami. She's a glutton for pain and a number of forbidden pleasures. These addictions and tendencies are what makes her correspond to the Devil arcana, as well.
-It also goes to note that, as Baal, Beelzebub was revered as a benevolent god in some cultures. This contrasts with the Judeo-Christian views of Beelzebub being a devil. This also corresponds to the two sides of Masami, in that one is benevolent and well-intentioned, while the other is a devil in human form.
-In this case, Victory Cry will be used in gradual regeneration outside of battle. With the proper pacing, Masami can effectively maintain a “peak” condition when entering every battle during the Dark Hour, depending on how much energy she expended in the fight before. Victory Cry is also one of the reasons that Masami's self-inflicted wounds heal so quickly, allowing for further mutilation.
Death Flies Attribute: Almighty Number of Hits/Targets: Single-hit, all targets Damage Level: Medium-to-high chance of instant incapacitation on targets without resistance to darkness; targets unaffected receive severe-tier Almighty damage. Description: Beelzebub slams the bottom of its staff into the ground. This signals the beginning of the attack, as the hum of thousands upon thousands of flies can be heard. This veritable swarm clouds up and encompasses all targets, inflicting whatever effect is possible.
