PERSONALITY,
As he is somewhat socially awkward, and has been for a long while, he tends to like to hang out with small groups, and hang off to the side of said groups, and simply listen, and watch what is going on. He is by no means a loner, as he hates being completely by himself, but he does hate being around a lot of people, as they tend to be noisy and stupid in large groups. He is rather finicky about who he picks as friends, and even pickier about who he opens up to, and toward those that earn it he is fiercely loyal. It's possible that no one knows everything about him, especially since he doesn't like admitting when something bothers him, and will usually dodge the subject entirely.

He has a few issues containing his temper, which can have a short fuse, depending on the subject. However, despite this, he will usually leave you alone, provided he is left alone when he needs to be. He generally will not snap, or be in any way unpleasant to anyone undeserving of such treatment if he doesn't have to. However, if someone decides to pick on him, and not pick up on his cues to leave him alone, he will usually lash out, resulting in him physically harming another person.

Naoki is also a rather strange, self-contradictory guy. He claims to like going to the beach, but dislikes swimming, and going out into the sun. Instead, he would rather sit in the shade, enjoy the breeze, and sounds, and watch everyone while reading a book. Part of it is he doesn't want to get a sunburn, or overheated, and he is afraid of getting dunked underwater, and then there's the fact that the smell of seaweed doesn't exactly agree with his sensitive nose. Also, while he tends to avoid violence, and outright hurting people, he will sit there and watch "stupid" people bumble around and hurt themselves, all while having a chuckle at their expense. He also likes the smell of a campfire, while being incredibly pyrophobic.

ADDITIONAL NOTES,
Born to a single mother, Naoki's life was difficult from the start. However, she struggled and tried very hard to make him happy, though she seldom succeeded. After all, much of his time was spent away from home while she worked, and he had been placed into daycare when he was three months old, and it lasted for most of his childhood years. When he was two, however, his mother married a kind man, who immediately took to Naoki as if he was his own son, and showered him with warmth and affection. It didn't last, though. They suffered multiple separations, which only stressed the young boy out, and made him upset.

In the winter of his third year of life was one such separation. His mother had moved them into a house five blocks away, and they lived with one of her friends, and her two boys, both of whom were older than Naoki, and wanted nothing to do with him a lot of the time. That suited the small boy just fine, and he played with his toys all by himself, until one night, when his mother was making shepherd's pie for dinner. She had gotten home late, and was only boiling the potatos by the time he had gotten really hungry and impatient. He wandered into the kitchen, asked her if he could grab an apple, and then hurried to grab the fruit when she hurriedly consented. However, as he moved to head back to the livingroom, she turned around to see him in her path and she jumped, obviously startled, and some of the starchy water splashed over the side of the pot and landed right on the young boy, immediately scalding him. Panicked, she set the pot on the floor and immediately attempted to cool the boy's burns, forgetting to remove his soaked shirt in the process. In the end, he had third degree burns on his left shoulder and second degree burns on his head, behind his ear, and down his arm. Those healed, but for some reason, the skin on his shoulder was far too dead to heal properly and he was sent in for a skin graft. Three weeks after his operation, he was released from the hospital to his much relieved mother and father.

A year passed without much incident until one day, the family went to the pool. Everyone was swimming and having a great time until Nao befell more misfortune. He, being unable to swim, clung onto his inner tube and simply floated along in the pool until one moment where he lost his grip and slipped right off, sinking straight to the bottom of the pool. At first, he was confused and simply looked around, wondering where he was, until he looked up and saw the surface of the water, and his inner tube. He kicked the bottom of the pool but only managed to get himself so far up before he sank right down again. Perplexed, and starting to get a little scared, he turned to look at the wall and tried to climb it, but to no avail. However, he didn't get to fight with the wall for very long before his father dove in and brought him back up to the surface. He was a little stunned, and slightly oxygen-deprived, but otherwise all right. He wasn't traumatized in the slightest. Well, not until a couple years later, when he figured out that he could have died down there. That was pretty much it for swimming after that.

Years passed, and his mother and father finally got divorced and he went between the two homes, the only thing that stayed the same being his daycare. He felt more at peace there than anywhere else, and he usually stayed there from early morning until the evening, when he wasn't in school. Eventually, his mother packed him up and moved him farther away, keeping him from seeing the man who had become his father, and she married another man, who was not so kind and hated the boy, as he was proof his mother had been with another man. They spent 4 years under his roof, and Naoki watched as the man not only hurt him, but hurt his mother as well, and then slowly began to change her so that she wasn't the mother Naoki knew and loved anymore. He had enough; it was one thing to hurt him, but it was another to hurt his mother. Before long, Naoki, who had been quietly taking the verbal, and emotional abuse, stood up straight, and defiantly faced his stepfather, intent on not only standing up for himself, but for his mother, as well. It continued in this fashion until it eventually hit a breaking point and it came to blows between them.
